LET’S CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH!

California State Indian Museum and Native Arts & Crafts Market

2618 K Street, Sacramento

Saturday, November 30th at 10:00 a.m.

The month of November is designated as National American Indian Heritage month.  It’s the perfect opportunity for us to learn and celebrate the history and lives of our native brothers and sisters.  We will do that by touring the State Indian Museum as well as peruse their annual Native Arts & Crafts Market on the same day!  Both are located adjacent to Sutters Fort.

We’ll meet in front of the Museum right before they open at 10am.  Metered parking is available on 26th and K Streets.  The museum and craft market are free.  Sign up in Brooks Hall!

The State Indian Museum opened in 1940 and focuses mainly on Native people in Northern California. There will be traditional baskets, along with some of the smallest in the world, a redwood dugout canoe, ceremonial regalia, beadwork, and hunting & fishing tools, some of which are more than twenty-four hundred years old.

The Native Arts & Crafts Market is free and open 10-4:00pm on Nov 29 & 30.  After we go through the Museum, we can shop unique hand-made gifts. There will also be food trucks from Native-owned businesses parked outside the museum selling Indian Tacos, coffee, and other treats.
