What Does a Licensed Practitioner Do?

Licensed Spiritual Practitioners are trained in the Science of Mind and in the art of Spiritual Mind Treatment, also called Affirmative Prayer. They offer prayer support and spiritual coaching to individuals seeking guidance, healing, or clarity — in a space that is safe, confidential, and grounded in love.

Practitioners are licensed to practice professionally through Centers for Spiritual Living, held to a high code of ethics, and required to maintain their licensure through ongoing education and service hours every two years.

To become licensed, candidates must complete a multi-year course of study, pass a comprehensive written exam and background check, and be approved by an oral panel of ministers and practitioners.

How to Get There

The journey to licensure begins with certificated coursework. Students who complete six prerequisite courses across four required categories become eligible to apply for Practitioner Training.

Courses are offered through CSA, other CSL-affiliated communities, or the CSL Online Education Program. Online training requires permission from the senior minister.
Many students take certificated courses purely for personal and spiritual development, with no intention of pursuing licensure. Both paths are equally valid.
